To fix this, uncheck the box marked play user interface sound effects. Whether it is yours or theirs, there are no allowable exceptions or appealable circumstances. For me, the 'funk' sound was pre-selected, but some effects like 'bottle' or 'pop' make a clicking noise that could be mistaken for crackly audio.
