Each ability can only be performed on a square on the grid requiring you to move character's into range for either offensive or defensive reasons. Instead of having 2 characters take turns to attack and defending until one side dies players now navigate a grid. South Park: The Fractured But Whole drops the old turn-based combat system for a grid-based tactical system.
The Fractured But Whole blurs the line between reality and fiction constantly with the kids clearly wearing customed low-quality costumes but performing deadly blasts from outer space. It's hard to tell what is real or not, with Jimmy constantly breaking the laws of physics when using his fast-travel stations and the kids moving out of the street when a car passes by. A scene where Fourth Graders give lap dances to drunk customers and have a Catholic priest pulling anal beads out of their anus are only a few insane situations you'll encounter during your playthrough. In the previous game, certain cutscenes were blocked due to the country's rating board but South Park: The Fractured But Whole is completely uncensored. Several instances I burst out laughing and others were shocked that the developers went to extreme measures. To reach this goal you'll have to complete a series of South Park absurd challenges. However, Cartman decides to change the theme to superheroes, their goal to find a missing car for the $100 reward to fund their superhero franchise. The story begins after The Stick of Truth, with the New Kid taking the role as King and defending the Stick of Truth once again. South Park is loaded with callbacks to South Park's 20-year history and it's hard to go anywhere without having references to the show popup in posters, dialogue, or billboards. Although it's similar to the Stick of Truth slight changes such as the inclusion of Memberberries and Sodosopa gives the town a fresh look.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole can easily be mistaken for an episode of South Park, with the animation style, writing, and voice-acting being ripped straight from the popular television show. Along with a brand new tactical gameplay system and the ability to make whatever superhero you want South Park: The Fractured But Whole is the sequel everyone who played the first game could hope for. Focusing on the parodying the superhero movie franchise you'll burst out launching throughout the children's adventure to establishing their own superhero franchise. Now its sequel, South Park: The Fractured But Whole not only maintains this but it's one of the funniest games to come since the previous game. Back in 2014 South Park: The Stick of Truth released and it was one of the most faithful video game adaptations ever made.
